Communications Lead

Founded in 2015, Big Win Philanthropy is an independent foundation that invests in children and young people to improve lives and maximize demographic dividends for equitable economic growth, peace and security.

We focus on investments in sub-Saharan Africa that promote three areas of human capital growth: brain development, education and youth employment. Led by the priorities of our African partners, we support leaders to effectively define and deliver the ‘big wins’ they regard as the most important for their people and nations.

Location: London, with international travel

Salary: £60,000 – £70,000

As Big Win Philanthropy’s Communications Lead, you will work alongside the program, management, and operations teams to execute the communications strategy for the organization, aligned with our strategic plan. You will be responsible for review and development of program-related materials that drive strategic priorities; will help identify and highlight compelling stories about leaders with whom we work; will maintain consistency and strategic focus in the organization’s communications materials; and will work closely with our external agency to oversee day-to-day execution. You will also work with our Program Directors to provide strategic guidance to Big Win’s partners, including government ministers and heads of state, to support the successful delivery of transformational, cross-sector initiatives.

The successful candidate will have experience working in communications at senior levels of government, philanthropy, journalism or related fields, with a track record of implementing communications strategies in complex environments. You will have excellent stakeholder engagement skills with a track record of managing politically sensitive relationships with different stakeholders. You will also have expertise in the communications landscape in sub-Saharan Africa.
